Centre of Indian classical dance, Almaty-Kazakhstan
The Centre of Indian classical dance, Almaty-Kazakhstan had started its work since March 1, 2006. It is remarkable, since this Centre is the first noncommercial institution of international level in Kazakhstan and Central Asia.
The aim of the Centre’s work – is a development of physical and spiritual world for the benefit of the human being, the opening of an individual’s creative potential and body health improvement through unique Indian classical dance. Also mutual understanding and harmony between people of different nationalities through high elite art, deep study of Indian classical dance Bharatanatyam and folk dances of India. Strengthening of cultural ties between India and Kazakhstan, knowing of historical closeness and interrelation of two countries’ cultures.
Dance troupe of the Centre of Indian classical dance – are holders of Diploma and title of Laureate of Children creativity Festival at X and XII International festivals “Voice of Asia”, “Enshe Balapan”, “Rauan” and other festivals. They performed with a program of Indian classical and folk dances in Astana, Karaganda, Temirtau, Semipalatinsk, Shimkent, Aktobe, Ust-Kamenogorsk and other cities of Kazakhstan.
The innovative art performances of Centre of Indian classical dance, Almaty-Kazakhstan have been widely covered by various mass media. The programs are devoted to remarkable dates of Indian and Kazakhstan calendars –
Independence Day, Republic Day, Spirit harmony Day, Day of Senior citizens, International Dance Day, Diwali, Gandhi Jayanti, the Centenary celebration of Smt. Rukmini Devi Arundale, Astana city Day, etc. The concerts are conducted in collaboration with Embassy of India in Kazakhstan, Almaty and Astana City administrations, UNESCO in Almaty, Theatres, Concert Halls, international and social organizations. Besides dancing activity, the Centre delivers lecture-demonstrations, seminars, workshops in educational institutions of Almaty.
In 2007 the Centre of Indian classical dance, Almaty-Kazakhstan with the support of Indian Embassy in Almaty had conducted a number of concerts, devoted to 15th Anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic relations between the Republic of India and the Republic of Kazakhstan. The most important concerts took place in February in Almaty, in April in Astana and in October in India.
Festival performances were held in the most prestigious halls of the Indian capital – Kamani auditorium and Delhi Karnataka Sangha. The Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan in India – Mr Kairat Umarov had inaugurated the Concert. Significant state and public personalities, diplomats, representatives of different cultural organizations, artistic intelligentsia of India presented in the programs. Kazakhstan artists, who study Indian art in Almaty, for the first time, had demonstrated their mastery in India itself. Their professional performance really surprised and delighted the audience. Also kazakh dances and songs, the special colorful national costumes were greatly admired by the public. And when the artists were performing dance “In harmony of Kazakh-Indian rhythms”, which symbolizes the friendship between two countries, audience burst with applauses. Tours in India were successful with collaboration and support of Embassies of two countries, Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) in New Delhi, Kamani Auditorium and Delhi Karnataka Sangha.
Akmaral Kainazarova - Director and founder of the Centre, successfully completed her studies in classical Bharatanatyam at the College of fine arts “Kalakshetra” (Chennai, South India); at the Nalanda Dance Research Center, University of Mumbai - was awarded a Diploma in Indian art. Akmaral is the member of the International Dance Council (CID) within the UNESCO, Paris; winner of Gold medal and title Champion of the World – 2003 in Hollywood, USA in nomination “ethnic dance” at Seventh World Championship of performing arts.
As the first and only professional performer of the Indian classical dance Bharatanatyam in Kazakhstan, the name of Akmaral was recorded in the Golden book Almaty-2000, Kazakhstan Book of Records 2002, Kazakhstan Book of Records 2003-2005, 2006-2007, Indian Book of Records LIMCA 2006, Kazakhstan Book of Records KINES 2008, encyclopedia "Who is Who in Republic of Kazakhstan 2011".![]()
On December 10, 2008 the Ministry of culture and information of the Republic of Kazakhstan awarded Akmaral Kainazarova the honor title and medal “Representative of Culture”. On the initiative of the Indian Embassy in Kazakhstan, Akmaral Kainazarova was twice honored to perform Bharatanatyam to welcome the Honorable guests from India: His Excellency, the Prime Minister of India – Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee (June 2002) during the CICA Summit in Almaty and with students of her Centre for His Excellency, Vice-President of India - Mr Mohammad Hamid Ansari (April 2008.).
Akmaral has presented her art in different cities of Kazakhstan, and also in Tajikistan, Greece, India, USA, Kyrgyzstan.
She is the author of dance projects: “Dialogue of cultures – integrated world” (2006), “Literature basis for Indian classical dance” (2007), “Indian classical dance and martial arts of East” (2008), “Essay on India” by Mukhtar Auezov in dance feature of “Centre of Indian classical dance” (2009) and others.
She has been honored with author’s certificate on fusion of Kazakh folk and Indian classical dances “In harmony of Kazakh-Indian rhythms” created for the first time in Kazakhstan.
She is an empanelled artist of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) in New Delhi.
In 2011 Akmaral completed MA Bharatanatyam, Madras University as ICCR student; PG Diploma in Yoga Therapy, Madras University.
